Freedom
We cry freedom, what does that mean
This freedom we take for granted
Here today, can be taken away
So easily, so freely, freedom is
Misused, abused, freedom is gone
You're free, she’s free, he is free, are we really
When someone holds your freedom in their hands
To crush you, place you in a cage
Gone is freedom
Freedom to explore, freedom to breath
Freedom to live, freedom! freedom!
Where is my freedom
It’s been taken away
In a gilded cage I live
My wings clipped, my voice silenced
My only freedom
It can't be touched
It's mine, with it my freedom exist
Stop it! go ahead and try
You can't stop me from thinking
My dreams won't be denied
My heart, you have no control over
You can't rule my thoughts, quiet my spirit
You can take away my freedom, freedom we cry
Cry for freedom, my freedom
MY MIND
Superficial Beauty
All she cared about was the color of her nails
What shoes should she wear?
Did her hair that wasn't hers look good?
She paid for it so it was
The clothes that adorned her
Body must be by a popular
designer
Which she couldn't really afford
Therefore, she thought she was crafty
Creating designer fake
labels and
Sewing them in her - self
She had her eyebrows tattooed on
Now she looked like a clown
Fake eyelashes that look as if she had
Black widows growing from them
Her perfume was so strong
You smelled her before she
Walked into a room
If that’s, what it takes to make her
Feel and look good which is all in her mind
She might want to take all that money
She is spending on superficial looks
And invest it in a good psychiatrist
Too Late Love has Packed its Bags
He rocked back in forth trembling hands
Held up close to his face in prayer
Something maybe he should have been
Doing all along, praying for the knowledge on
How to love his woman
Empty closets that her clothes use to adorn
The clashing sound of hangers reverberated in his mind
Where she kept her perfumes and make-up
Cried out to him she was no longer here
Called all her friends
His calls were sent to voicemail
He tried to send her a text
His texts were now blocked
He tried to contact her on her
Social network
He was blocked there too
Tears begin to roll down from his eyes
He had a prize and now she was
Someone else’s queen
Didn’t she know how much he loved her?
Didn’t he tell her every now and then?
He made love to her giving her his everything
Then rolled over and went to sleep
How dare she walk out of his life?
Without even a goodbye
Didn’t he spend lavishly on her?
Showering her with brand new
Pots and pans so she would stop
Complaining about the rusty ones she was using
He acquired new things for himself
In addition, they weren’t pots and pans
Didn’t he remember special dates?
It wasn’t his fault he forgot most of them
This was his way of love
Now she was with someone
Who knows how to treat a woman
Putting her feelings before his
Showering her with the attention
She was deprived of
He helps to build back her self-esteem
And loved her beyond words
All because it was
Too late love has packed its bags
And unpacked them in happiness joy and laughter
Chasing Destiny
Sometimes the decision we make
At the time they are conceived
Make perfect sense
Sadly, we can’t gaze into a crystal ball and see
That decision will haunt you for the rest of
Your life
In my head I've rehearse every probability of scenarios
Of how to say the things that need to be said
Pride is a curse locking out the one who should of
Been holding the key
Now the locks have rusted from tears
The key disappeared an eternity ago
Moreover, I am tired of chasing a dream
When I get close enough to taste humility
It quickly vanishes in the mist
Now I can see my fingertips reaching out to grasp
What was but now is
Slowly, slowly, slowly, I reach out to destiny
To ask for his forgiveness
He looked right through me as if I
Was invisible
I yelled to his retreating figure
He only looked over his shoulder
Sadness aura surrounding his soul
Walking away, away, away…
The World Goes Round & Round
Past a man sitting on a corner
He was assessing the damage
To one foot
As people passed by
Making their way to different
Destinations, some looked
At him others went on about
Their business
I wondered what was going
Through his mind
No one knew his situation
Judgment is saved for a higher power
He continued to caress his ailing foot
All the while keeping his head down
All I could think of
The world goes round and round
The richer become wealthier and the poor
Are just after thoughts…
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
I am not
preaching or ranting but there has been so much going on lately around the
world it amazes me why would anyone want to keep trying to survive all the
mayhem and destruction, the injustice is God listening?
The cries and moans of his women losing their children, men, father’s cradle empty arms. Are we so lost we cannot see the beautiful rainbow in between the hate and disillusion?
Does he see our innocence being lost on the cold streets
of the concrete jungle?
This cannot be
all there is to life…
Faith, love,
hope, peace, unity, justice, have just become words lost in alterations
I bow my head in
submissiveness wondering what is next, what is next, what is next….
